MY POEMS: HRASH MANAVTA KA

Rain has always been the cynosure of all the poets. From the time enumerable it has catch the fancies of all the poets to express their feelings. But in most of the cases Romance has been the essence of their poems. But again their are certain poets who find the rain a way to express their anguish. One such poem, i read in class Ninth.I am not able to recall the name of the poet and the whole poem.. but the way he has compared the Rain and the Black cloud with the Autocrats and blaming them for the dissimilarity in the society, i still find it unbeatable. Some lines that i can recall are like:

उतर रेत में
आक जवास भरे खेत में
मानी बादल

A great satire on the political system in the line like:

कुपथ कुपथ रथ दौड़ाता जो
नीति उपदेशक वो है
लाज लजाती जिसकी कृति से
धृति उपदेशक वो है  ......

जनता भू पे है बैठी
नभ में मंच गड़ा है
क्यों जनता का पालनहार
इतनी दूर खड़ा है

And again complaint to the rain:

मानी बादल तेरी बिजली राह नयी दिखलाती नहीं रे  ....
उतर रेत में अाक जवास भरे खेत में

The poet says that like the rulers of the country, the rain is also meant for the rich and capable. It prays him " Utar ret mein, aak jawas bhare khet mein" to come in the courtyard of the poor and needy persons.

The same poem has always inspired me a lot.In such rain in year 2000,on the coffee table we were debating the humanity and the way the people has become selfish now a day with our parents. That discussion left me quite unrest.Seeing the falling rain from the balcony of my home, i found that this is not the rain but the Tears of Humanity.... who is crying some where in the corner. My lines started running with the rain like:

Have we ever thought where are we heading with these kind of selfishness and greed.. we are threatening our own quite essential existence... time to wake up... lest its late

Wow.
Though rains have always been special to me, and as far as I'm concerned are my own personal favourite metaphor for happiness and prosperity.... you made me look another way.
Don't think that's happened before.

Coming back to something you said in the opening lines of your post, I state that romance is and will always remain a fundamental part of poetry.
Because no matter what you write about, you still HAVE TO romance it with words.
Anguish.
Fear.
Love.
Lust.
Rains.
People.

That's the power of the written word. Because someone somewhere has romanced it.

Nice Post :-)

And going to get down to reading the rest of it now...

Kiran...

Sorry I missed the honor to be the first one to wish you here in the blogworld…....sorry!! Aap ki hindi ki to main bahut dinse fan hoon….nice to think that from now we can get RAINED by your poetry more & more & more….

As u hv said abt humanity, hope this’ll suit most…

Being means
Being employed
Or else a little
money;
To have means
To have some cash
Or else it's all
phoney.
To bear means
Forbearing sorrow
Or else to bear with
wrongs,
I do not have to
Bear with hunger
Which is why I sing
songs.
To carry means
To carry weight
Be it heavy, be it
light;
Can you tell me
Where I could,
Perhaps, my load
alight?
To want is
To want to live
In a way that I can call
mine,
There are those
Who live a life
And those who live by
dyin'.
To go means
To go very far
To go away before
long,
Before that day
I pass time away
Spinning words around
a song..

Sorry again..
Roy

@ Amrita …

Heii..Amrita thanx, u hv come up with nice point which I didn’t notice!!
Rain ….anguish ….actually my sense of literature is as good as Mallika Serawat’s ACTING SKILLS….
But I know there r certain poets….. but here in Mumbai you didn’t find such poet….nyah!!

Look, when Mumbai got too much rain last yr & suffered badly (even our own ppl don't even bother to ask how we were in that tragedy)….no one complains abt the rain(though rain is d main reason as Mumbai experienced unprecedented rainfall of 944.2 mm, much more than Cherapunji), still Mumbai loves rain coz Mumbai don’t blame others…

Recently I notice a poem as this yr we don’t have experienced d rain yet:

Tu kahan gayi humen chhorke
Tujhe kya pata
Kitna hoon bekarer
Tujhe ek jhalak dekhne ke liye
Jhalak dikhla jaa
Jhalak dikhla jaa

Ek baar aaja aaja aaja aaja aa ja
Ek baar aaja aaja aaja aaja aa ja

Jhalak dikhla jaa
Jhalak dikhla jaa

Mumbai poets are nice always & ppl also (except ME)
